Charge Settings

When in your Tesla, ensure the car is in Park, then tap Controls > Charging. Firstly, you will see the total estimated driving distance at the current charge level. Moreover, this allows you to either view or toggle several settings, such as:

  1. Set Limit: Adjust the slider on-screen to set the level of charging you want. The setting you choose applies to both immediate and scheduled charging sessions. Once the car is plugged in, you can also adjust the limit from the mobile app. Tesla also provides a daily recommended limit.
  2. Charge Current at This Location: When you plug in your Tesla, the electrical current automatically sets to the maximum amount available from the attached charge cable, unless it was previously reduced to a lower level. You can then tap the + or – signs to change the electrical current.
  3. Open Charge Port: When not charging, you can tap Open Charge Port or Unlock Charge Port which will open the charge port door, or unlock the charge cable from the port. Moreover, you can touch Stop Charging if needed.
  4. Schedule: As implied by its name, this setting displays the precondition and charging schedule. If you don’t have one, you can create one for your saved home or work locations.
  5. Charge Solar at This Location: If available in your region, you can set up your car with your Tesla Powerwall. This will allow it to charge from excess solar production, using the Tesla mobile app. If your vehicle is plugged in at home and this setting is toggled, the Tesla will charge up to the minimum charge limit from any source and then continue charging on only excess solar power.
  6. Supercharging: Displays Supercharging locations. If you’re at a Supercharger with your car plugged in, it displays the usage fees, the time that charging started, and a cost estimate for the session.
