Some words that are often used to describe the Tesla Cybertruck include unique, and unusual, even when compared to other cars the automaker has created like the Model 3 or Y. However, one commonality among all Tesla vehicles is the useful storage space provided by a front trunk, also known as a frunk amongst the Tesla community. How to Open the Frunk

The Cybertruck is the only Tesla that features a powered frunk, meaning that it opens and closes automatically with the push of a button. Opening the hood to access the frunk is quite simple. You must ensure the car is in Park, and then do one of the following:

When in the vehicle, tap the Open icon on the touchscreen that points to the frunk.
Use the Tesla Mobile app and tap Frunk, it’ll then ask you to confirm if you’d like to open it.
From outside the Cybertruck, press the center button under the hood closure. Tesla has created a useful visual for your reference.

NOTE: Tesla warns to check the environment before opening the hood of the car. This is particularly important if the ceiling is low, like in some parking garages. Failure to do so may result in the Cybertruck being damaged.

How to Close the Frunk

Now that you know how to open the frunk, you’ll need to know how to close it. This can be accomplished in several ways:

Press the center button under the hood closure.
Use the Tesla Mobile app and tap the Frunk button, which will then close it if it’s open.
When in the vehicle, tap the Close icon on the touchscreen that points to the frunk.

NOTE: Your powered frunk will lock if you leave it open and the Cybertruck locks. This can happen when you lock it via the touchscreen, key, mobile app, or with the Walk-Away Door lock feature.

How Big is the Frunk?

The front trunk in the Cybertruck is 7.1 cubic feet, or approximately 200 L. This is a massive amount of extra space that Tesla owners benefit from and is now officially the largest frunk among all Tesla models.

It can be used to store luggage, groceries, and so much more. It may not be something you think about when purchasing your Tesla, but it certainly enhances the ownership experience.

NOTE: Tesla stresses the importance of the weight distribution of the cargo. The frunk should never carry more than 440 lbs, or 200 kg, as doing so can put your car at risk of being damaged.
