We’ve all been there. You’re on the phone with your insurance company, or trying to get a quote from a website, and it asks for your Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). You then scramble to see where you can find the number and are frustrated as it was tiring and time-consuming to find it. Lucky for you, Tesla has made it quite simple, continue for steps on how to find the VIN for your Tesla Model 3 or Model Y.
Finding Your Vehicle Identification Number
Tesla has made it easy to find your VIN, so you’ll never have to scramble again. Here are all the places you can locate it:
1) When in your car, tap Controls > Software on the touchscreen and it’ll display your VIN. Alternatively, open the Tesla app and scroll to the bottom to see the number. These are the two simplest and quickest ways to find your VIN. Having it stored in the mobile app is yet another unique benefit of Tesla ownership.
2) Like most cars, you’ll also be able to locate the identification number stamped on a plate located at the top of the dashboard. Typically, the easiest way to see this is from the outside of your vehicle, Tesla has created a useful visual to show you exactly where to look.
3) Another location for the VIN is it being printed on the Statutory Plate, located on the door pillar. This one can be seen when the car door is open. Once again, Tesla has created a diagram to show you where to look.
TIP: In most cases, you’ll find that the VIN is also present on the car’s official document. Typically, this means that it’ll be on the registration papers. This is also somewhere you can quickly look if all else fails.
